Learn to Ski Day

Preregistration is required for those wishing to rent ski equipment.
Rental skis, boots and poles will be available for $4 per pair for
youngsters 12 and under and $10 for others at the trailhead warming
hut. Your rentals must be checked out between 12:30 and 1p.m. and
returned by 4:00 p.m.
Ski club volunteers will provide free instruction for beginner skate or
classical skiing at the Afterhours Ski Trail in Brule.
On days of large turn out, lessons for first-time beginners will start at
1 p.m.; more advanced beginners might be scheduled for lessons at 2
p.m.
Children must have a signed release form or be accompanied by a
parent or guardian who can sign the form.
Everyone is welcome, and youth groups such as scouts and 4-H are
encouraged to participate. Youth groups must preregister.
No memberships are required, and trail passes are not needed if you
are participating in the learn-to-ski program.
Preregistrations must be in by 4 p.m. of the Thursday night preceding
the Sunday on which you wish to ski. Call Cragin Machine Shop at
715-392-6988 or via email at siszee@hotmail.com. Be sure to provide
the name, shoe size, sex, age, and approximate weight and height of
persons wishing to rent equipment.

Candlelight Ski

Candles will light two miles of trails. Grills, picnic tables, and a bonfire will be provided. Trail passes not
required for this event, which is sponsored by the Brule River State Forest with volunteer assistance from the
Brule Valley Ski Club.

Easy jaunts of discovery for adults, youngsters, and families
interested in learning how the north woods makes it through
the winter. Forest educator Josh McIntyre leads these environmental
learning actitvities, which are sponsored by the Brule
River State Forest, with volunteer assistance from the Brule
Valley Ski Club. For the Snowshoe Hike at the Historic Bayfield
Trail, you can make reservations to rent snowshoes from Brule
Classics, Brule, 715/372-8153.

We'll need some help a couple hours ahead of time to place the candles and light them. The last few years we've let the candles burn themselves out and picked up the bags on Monday so that if someone wants to ski after 9 they can.
